If you’ve ever had to stop mid-order to double-check a film code, you’ll appreciate this change. For years, VION films from William Smith have been a reliable choice for signmakers. Now, we have taken that trust a step further by making things even simpler.
The films themselves haven’t changed. What’s new is a clearer, more straightforward naming system designed to save time and remove confusion. We have replaced the old numeric codes with an intuitive format that tells you exactly what you need to know at a glance:
VP (VION Print) + Years of durability + Finish + Adhesive type
For example:
- VP3G-C = 3-year gloss clear print film (formerly VP3000-01)
- VP5G-G VF = 5-year gloss grey film with V-Flow adhesive (formerly VP5075-02VF)
Â
Each part of the code carries useful information:
- VP = VION Print
- 3 / 5 / 7 = Years of durability
- G / M = Gloss or Matte finish
- C / G / R / VF / HT = Clear, Grey, Removable, V-Flow, or High Tack adhesive
Â
The result is a clean, quick-reference system that helps signmakers find the right film without flipping through product tables.
“Signmakers told us they wanted the codes to be simpler,” says Lindsay Hutchinson, Head of Marketing at William Smith Group 1832. “The new system takes away the guesswork. It’s about helping installers work faster and smarter, without compromising on quality.”
The VION brand has been trusted by signmakers for over a decade, known for dependable performance and value. This update is part of William Smith’s ongoing effort to support installers and streamline the way they work.
The new codes are already appearing across catalogues and ordering systems, with more products to follow in the months ahead.
