As demand continues to grow at the William Smith Training Academy, we’re excited to introduce one of our team members in development — Tom Greaves, who is currently training to become one of our in-house application specialists.
Tom officially joined the company in January 2021, originally working as a Team Leader in our Fabrication department.
“I got into the industry by applying for a role in Fabrication at William Smith,” Tom explains. “Since then, I’ve become more and more interested in how vinyl works — and how to fit and install it correctly in a variety of environments.”
Now part of the Training Academy team, Tom’s role is focused on assisting with current courses, refining his own application skills, and learning directly from our experienced trainers. It’s a hands-on, knowledge-rich environment — and one that suits his naturally practical approach.
“It’s easy to feel overwhelmed at first with the amount of information on different products and fitting techniques,” he says. “But if you take a step back and ask as many questions as possible, you’ll find your confidence grows much faster.”
While he’s gaining experience across multiple application types, it’s the Architectural sector that’s caught Tom’s attention.
“It’s an exciting and growing market,” he says. “I’m really looking forward to diving deeper into that side of the business.”
We’re proud to support Tom’s development and excited to see where his journey as a future trainer will take him.
