MW Graphics Ltd recently completed an ambitious branding project for GT Wings, specialists in wind propulsion systems for maritime vessels. The task? Supply and fit bold company branding to a 20-metre ship sail, destined for deployment in extreme weather conditions.
With the vessel heading for Canada, a robust and high-performance solution was essential. MW Graphics selected VION VP7G-G HT , a trusted high-tack material known for its strength and durability on challenging surfaces.
Fast turnaround under pressure
The project was delivered by a team of three in just two days — a rapid timeline made possible by efficient planning and weekend production.
“The feedback was regarding turnaround time. They sent artwork on the Friday and we produced it over the weekend and fitted on the Monday. If it wasn’t a staple product that we use, this wouldn’t have been possible.”
High-tack, high performance
VION VP7G-G HT proved more than capable of withstanding the demands of the job. With the sail destined for sub-zero climates, the MW Graphics team consulted William Smith’s technical experts to confirm the material’s suitability for the conditions.
Despite its high tack adhesive, the film was smooth to work with during production and application.
“Our fitters found it easy to use. There’s a little more attention required as it’s a high tack product so that comes with the nature of the material.”
“For a high tack material, it plotted and weeded well. We’ve often found that this kind of adhesive can be trickier to work with in the prep stage and this is often overlooked when selecting a material.”
