With Sunderland AFC back in the Premier League and preparing to compete in European competition for the first time in over five decades, the club's First Team Coach is set to be seen by supporters across the UK and beyond.

Ahead of the new campaign, Carmeleon (S10 Automotive) was tasked with giving the coach a fresh new identity. The project required a complete visual transformation, combining bold club branding with a high-quality finish capable of making an impact wherever the team goes.

The Material Choice

The project took approximately two weeks to complete and required a combination of specialist films to achieve the desired result:

  • 65 metres of 3Mâ„¢ Wrap Film Series 2080 Gloss Hot Rod Red
  • 16 metres of 3Mâ„¢ Wrap Film Series 2080 Gloss White
  • 35 metres of Contra Vision®
  • 15 metres of 3Mâ„¢ Print Wrap Film IJ280 with gloss overlaminate

According to Sean Child, Director at Carmeleon, the choice of materials centred around the striking appearance of 3M 2080 Gloss Hot Rod Red.

"The material choice was driven by the choice of using 2080 Gloss Hot Rod Red. The others were chosen for their compatibility and quality to pull the whole design together."

Using products from compatible systems is particularly important on large vehicle graphics projects, helping to ensure a consistent finish, dependable durability and efficient installation across multiple graphic elements.

Smooth Installation Across a Large Vehicle

Large coaches present unique challenges for graphics installers. Extensive panel areas, complex body shapes and the need for precise alignment all demand materials that can be applied with confidence.

Sean was particularly impressed by the installation experience.

"Great installation with excellent performance and durability."

He also highlighted the confidence the materials provided throughout the project.

"Nice slick installation, having full confidence over the performance of it. Also the visual result was exceptional."

For installers working on high-profile fleet projects, that confidence can be just as important as the finished appearance, helping to keep projects on schedule while achieving consistent results.

Delivering the Finished Result

The completed Sunderland AFC First Team Coach now presents a bold, professional image that reflects the club's brand and creates strong visual impact wherever it travels.

The combination of 3M 2080 coloured wrap films, IJ280 printed graphics and Contra Vision window graphics allowed Carmeleon to create a cohesive design across every element of the vehicle.

The customer was delighted with the outcome, with Sean noting that the club was happy with the finished result.

Having delivered both the installation performance and finished appearance expected from a flagship project, Sean confirmed that he would happily use the materials again in future projects.

Trusted Materials for High-Profile Graphics

Large-format vehicle branding requires materials that can deliver both installation efficiency and long-term visual impact.

This Sunderland AFC coach project demonstrates how combining premium coloured wrap films, specialist window graphics and high-performance printable wrap media can help installers create eye-catching fleet graphics with confidence.
