A 45ft Sealine S450 has been completely transformed with a full boat wrap using 3M 2080 Gloss Charcoal Metallic, installed by Bluechip Wraps Ltd.

The owner wanted to update the original white hull with something darker and more modern. By choosing a premium metallic finish, the yacht now has a sharper, more contemporary look that stands out both on the water and in the marina.

Preparing the Hull for a Marine Wrap

The Sealine S450 was a used vessel and in good overall condition. A few small repairs were carried out before installation to make sure the surface was ready for wrapping.

As with any marine vinyl wrap, preparation is key. A clean, smooth surface ensures strong adhesion and a high-quality finish — especially on larger vessels.

Managing a 14-Metre Section of Film

One of the biggest challenges during this yacht wrap was handling a continuous 14-metre length of film along the hull. At that size, the material becomes heavy and needs to be carefully positioned before application begins.

Pinning the film in place with masking tape and taking time to align it correctly helped the team achieve a clean, seamless result. The full installation took around two days to complete.

Why 3M 2080?

Bluechip Wraps selected 3M 2080 for the project — a film they regularly use across vehicle and boat wraps due to its consistent performance and high-quality finish.

The Gloss Charcoal Metallic colour delivers depth and shine, making it a strong choice for colour change projects where visual impact matters.

A Complete Boat Transformation

The shift from white to charcoal metallic has dramatically changed the look of the Sealine S450. The darker finish gives the yacht a more modern and premium presence, showing how a boat vinyl wrap can provide a practical alternative to repainting.

The client was extremely happy with the final result.

“We’re proud of every project we complete,” said Arran Kohn of Bluechip Wraps. “Especially when you are changing the colour to completely transform the look.”

Arran also highlighted the importance of reliable supplier support, adding that William Smith have always been helpful whenever needed.

As more boat owners look for cost-effective ways to update their vessels, marine wrapping continues to grow as a popular solution — offering flexibility, speed of installation and striking visual results.
