The COVID-19 pandemic was undeniably devastating. But in search of silver linings, there were some positive outcomes from the situation we suddenly found ourselves in. Perhaps the best example of this was the increased awareness and appreciation for the unparalleled efforts of our National Health Service and the public support that arose during such a tumultuous time.

Phil Moran, from Wrapture Architectural Wraps Ltd, recently completed a full refurb of the porter’s kitchen at Barnsley Hospital. The hospital porters are perhaps some of the unsung heroes of the pandemic, but the important work they do behind the scenes ensures everything else in the hospital is able to run as smoothly as possible.

Barnsley Hospital wanted to reward staff by renovating the existing kitchen space, providing them with a far more appealing and inviting environment to take their breaks in.

The project began with a site visit alongside Wrapture’s joiner to assess what preparation would be required for the job. The next step involved building a missing drawer and fixing and filling any damaged areas to a stage where installation could begin.

3M DI-NOC proved to be the perfect fit for the project, with the PS range having an anti-microbial surface that was ideal for use in a hospital environment. The cupboard doors and sides were wrapped in PS-952 and the worktops in LZ-461.

The installation was completed as part of the NHS Supply Chain Office and Outdoor Furniture Framework; a scheme created to help supply sustainable furniture solutions for NHS customers nationwide. The Barnsley Hospital project was a trial fit to demonstrate to NHS customers what can be achieved with architectural film. It’s safe to say that Wrapture once again exceeded expectations and this project is just another example of the fantastic work Phil and his team do.
