Meet the South West Sales Team: Alison and Rachel

At William Smith, our unique 'Buddy System' brings together two distinct roles to create a seamless customer experience. With an External Account Manager like Alison actively building relationships out in the field, and an Internal Account Manager like Rachel ensuring every client's needs are addressed promptly from the office, this partnership offers a compelling combination of hands-on and back-end support. In the South West, Alison and Rachel exemplify just how potent this system can be.

 

Q: "Let's start with some introductions. Could both of you briefly share your journey with William Smith Group?"

Alison: "Sure! I'm Alison and I’ve been with William Smith for 3 years. Before joining, I worked as a project manager for a signage company. In total, I've worked in the industry for about 18 years now!"

Rachel: "I joined in June 2021, thanks to a tip-off from my husband, Ian, who’s been with William Smith for 18 years! I haven't looked back since."

 

Q: "First impressions are important. What were your initial thoughts about each other when you met?"

Alison: "Rachel immediately struck me as someone friendly and eager to learn. She's always ready to help and go that extra mile to get things done."

Rachel: "I think we clicked pretty much instantly. It was clear how passionate and knowledgeable Alison was about the industry."

 

Q: "What qualities do you think make your buddy successful in their role?"

Alison: "I’d say that Rachel's dedication stands out to me. She listens to what customers want and need, and nothing is ever too much trouble. She’s a real team player."

Rachel: "Her knowledge and expertise. She’s been in the industry for a long time, and she’s always reaching for that next goal. Being consistent and reliable is essential as a salesperson and Alison is the definition of those qualities!”

 

Q: "Let's talk about your area. What were your first impressions and what challenges do your customers face?"

Alison: "It's a large area, but what stood out was how friendly the customers were! As for challenges, market shifts and economic factors play a role. Our approach is to offer a wide product range and be as responsive as possible."

Rachel: "Likewise, I was taken aback by the size initially. But our customers are fantastic!”

 

Q: "What feedback do you often hear from customers about each other?"

Rachel: "They find Alison ambitious, knowledgeable, and always ready to assist. And a few even cheekily comment on her nail appointments!"

Alison: "Our customers find Rachel super friendly and value her advice. They appreciate how well she understands their needs."

 

Q: "To wrap up, if you had to use just one word to describe your buddy, what would it be?"

Alison: "Friendly."

Rachel: “Passionate."
