A Blast from the Past: Delighted ROLLSROLLER Customer Tells All

William Smith is proud to have worked with Paul Turner Signwriters Ltd since 1994, making them one of our longest and most loyal customers to date. During the relationship, Paul Turner has purchased two ROLLSROLLERS for his signwriters in Garforth. Previously, they used a small pull-out application platform with a roll of 610mm tape and squeegeed using an Artex blade, a common way of working for many but certainly not the most ideal or efficient.

They were getting by with this method to get work out of the door as quickly as possible. However, in 2006, they were delighted when they received a call from their William Smith Account Manager at the time, Mark Brown. It was quite an ominous call, with Mark merely stating that he had “something special” to show Paul.

The pair met at an exhibition soon after, where William Smith were showcasing the very first ROLLSROLLERS at the time. Paul stated, ‘We saw it and loved it instantly. We were so impressed that we bought the demonstration model (5400mm x 1680 x 2) right then and there.’

The company found the ROLLSROLLER to be revolutionary. It was a game-changing addition that transformed their business overnight. As mentioned in one of our earlier blogs, ‘5 Reasons Why You Should Invest in a ROLLSROLLER’, Paul Turner now had the benefits of instant production, time saved, safer working conditions, a custom flatbed and of course, the best performance on the market!

The process of making signs changed dramatically with the possession of this NEW flatbed applicator. So much so that in 2008, the company bought their second machine for their sign production team and could now enjoy double the benefits as before!

It has now been 16 years since beginning to use ROLLSROLLERS in their sign shop, and during that period they have only ever had to change one compressor, two cutting mats, and two valves, demonstrating the machines' immense reliability.

‘After all these years the ROLLSROLLER machines have never dated and still function as well as the day we bought them, operating 8 hours a day, 5 days a week,’ added Paul.

A top tip from Paul in terms of accessories for the ROLLSROLLER was that his team invested in a vinyl remover VR15; a weeding machine that attaches to the end of the flatbed, again ideal for additional timesaving.

Paul Turner Signwriters Ltd also still have the first ROLLSROLLER manual produced in-house by William Smith - a real collector’s item!

The price of the flatbed applicator might be an initial deterrent for many sign makers. However, when Paul was asked how he would describe the return on investment, he replied, ‘In one word. Massive!'

Paul and his team went on to add that they would recommend a ROLLSROLLER to any sign production business looking to improve their production process. If the correct model is selected for a company’s needs, it may well be the best investment they ever make, allowing a company to move forward as a business in an innovative fashion.
