So, you’ve decided to apply for an Online Account with William Smith but aren’t sure where to start.

Fear not – today we’re going to walk you through every step you need to take to apply for an Online Trade Account. It’s quick, easy, and entirely hassle-free.

We know online ordering will never fully replace the personal touch of speaking with our sales team over the phone, but it’s still an incredibly useful tool to have at your disposal and can save you valuable time during your day!

So, where to begin?

Well, to start, we need to make sure your business fits the criteria required for an Online Trade Account.

We define “trade” as a business which is associated with the supply of sign and graphics products and is not the end-consumer.

If you’re not sure whether you fit these criteria, give us a call at 01833 690305 and a member of our sales team will be happy to talk you through the process.

If you think that all checks out, then follow the quick, simple steps below.

First, head over to the William Smith homepage.

You should see 3 symbols in the top right corner of your screen.

Click the “Sign In” symbol and wait for the next screen to load.

You should now be presented with the option to log in to an existing account at the top of your screen. There’s sometimes a bit of confusion at this stage as there’s a difference between your Trade Account and your Online Trade Account.

Disregard the “Existing user Login” for now and scroll down the page until you arrive at the “Apply for an Online Trade Account” section. Simply fill in your personal and company details and click the “Request your Account” button when done. Make sure to compete the form with as much accurate information and detail as possible in order to help our team determine whether or not your business is suitable.

If you already have an existing Trade Account with us, this will speed up the process. However, if you’re a completely new customer, we will need to get in touch and complete some checks before we can approve your new account. Account activation can take up to 24 hours for approval (Monday - Friday), but it’s usually much faster than this – you could be up and running in a matter of minutes!

All existing pricing from your Trade Account will be synced and automatically transferred over to your Online Account when activated, so you don’t need to worry about any price differential between the two.
