As of 1 January 2021, a new standard by the government has come into force which is associated with products being placed on the market in Great Britain, including signage. The new standard covers most products that previously required CE Marking.

Specifically related to Great Britain it is not recognised within the EU marketplace and therefore if you are selling signage products into the EU then CE Marking will still be required. Note: The UKCA marking must be accompanied by the UKNI marking for goods sold within Northern Ireland.

So, what if you aren’t already aware of the UKCA standard?

Don’t worry, although it came into force from 1 January 2021, CE Marking will continue to be recognised in Great Britain until the end of 2021, think of it as a period of grace. From 2022 only products with the UKCA marking will be accepted in Great Britain.
