HG Graphics, specialists in vehicle branding and signage, recently collaborated with trade-only sign fabrication company Smith to install new signage for a local business.

Based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, HG Graphics started from humble beginnings by Managing Director, Gavin Cocliff.

Having set up the sign company from the spare bedroom in his parents' home, Gavin has taken the business from strength to strength whilst ensuring its values of excellent customer service and attention to detail remain the same.

So, when a regular business client contacted HG Graphics enquiring about a new sign for the outside of their building, the team was more than happy to assist.

The customer, suppliers of platforms and lifts, had recently moved to a new business unit over 20,000 sq. ft in size after outgrowing the previous property. Because of the move new signage needed to be installed which identified the company at its new home.

Located near a busy bypass, the new signage was to be seen from afar for maximum impact and accurately represent company branding. It was also requested that the sign should be appropriately scaled to the size of the building ensuring it did not look lost.

Having used William Smith Distribution many times in the past for vinyl material, HG Graphics decided to pitch the project to William Smith Group 1832’s sign manufacturing division, Smith.

After discussing the project with the Estimating Team, the final proposal for the sign was two sets of 15 Built-Up Letters fabricated to the design of the client’s company logo.

Measuring at 950mm in cap height with returns of 50mm, the letters were then going to be mounted with 10mm Foamex.

It was decided this type of signage was the best solution due to the modern appearance, lasting durability, and the fact no fixtures or fittings would be on show.

Smith fabricated and supplied the signs in a 15 day turnaround ready for HG Graphics to complete the install.

Happy with the quality of the signage, Business Support Manager, Lauren Siddons commented:

“The workmanship is high quality and matched our expectations perfectly. We’re more than happy to install Smith’s signage”.

On the day of the install, the client was also filming a new promotional video to showcase their range of lift products. This situation conveniently presented an opportunity for both parties to benefit from with HG Graphics being able to make use of lift equipment to install the Built-Up Letters 20ft from the ground.

The outcome of the project was a successful one and the client was extremely happy with their new signage.

Speaking on the outcome of the project, Lauren added:

“We’re pleased with the outcome of the project; the whole install was a great experience. Everything went to plan from the initial enquiry to design, ordering, and installation. It’s always a great feeling when your customer is satisfied with the service and product provided. A special mention must also be made to Laura, our Graphic Designer, for all the fantastic imagery captured”.
