When looking for a solution to improve the appearance of the cladding at Grand Junction Retail Park, Lustalux, with the help of William Smith Group stepped in to provide the perfect product for their client.
The project involved the application of 450 metres of Avery Dennison Façade Film Anthracite Grey onto the lower section of existing cladding. Spanning across several retail units including Next, Argos and M&S, wrapping the cladding provided a weatherable, long lasting and flawless finish to the exterior of the buildings.
Avery Dennison Facade Film is a new coating solution for buildings. Like paint on a roll, film can be used to transform building cladding, panels and window frames. Lustalux, as Specialist Façade Installers, presented Avery Dennison Façade Film cladding wraps as the perfect solution. It offers high quality, long lasting results with an immaculate finish for external uses.
Robin Longton, Signage, Graphics & Architectural Film Consultant for Lustalux comments; “We chose Avery’s Façade Film as it is designed specifically for this type of application. The film has a 10+ year lifespan and application is possible in most weather conditions. As we are accredited installers of the material, it made it the ideal choice for the project.”
The key difference in this product lies in its super strong adhesive. Having high adhesion onto difficult building substrates such as plastics, aluminum, uncoated and coated steel and reinforced facade panels – Façade Film is an excellent alternative to paint. This consequently minimizes downtime when compared to traditional paint methods. Application can be done wet and it requires no drying time. Once applied it has a life expectancy of over 10 years, meaning unlike paint it won’t need multiple applications or maintenance.
“Our installation team were so impressed with the ease of application and actually finished the job slightly ahead of schedule. The only complaint we had was the unusually hot sunny weather, which made installation a little more difficult than normal.”
Using Avery Dennison Façade Film results in a perfect spray paint like finish. Aside from ensuring a rapid installation with minimal disruption, the film does not bleach and become brittle as rapidly as paint. It also helps to protect the underlying components from weathering. This is additional peace of mind that in years to come the finish will remain in top condition.
Robin continues; “William Smith Group were helpful throughout the process, from the initial pricing, to providing regular updates on stock levels and delivery, and offering assistance with application training. The client is very pleased with the results and has already requested a quotation for a repeat application to another of their retail parks.”
