3M High Visibility Marking Tape is a retro-reflective prismatic material, designed for marking vehicles on both horizontal and vertical planes. The reflective marking consists of prismatic lenses, ensuring that when light strikes the material optimum observation angle is achieved. With pressure sensitive adhesive on the rear of the material the application process is simple. When applied to properly prepared surfaces this high visibility tape will provide up to 7 years performance.

Legislation
UN ECE 104 is legislation created for the whole of the European Union, and by 2009 will be implemented in the UK. The regulation provides guidance for retro reflective marking on heavy goods vehicles and their trailers.
Specifications
The requirement is to have vehicles travelling within the UK, marked with high visibility tape on both horizontal and vertical planes. All HGV should be marked in a continuous line or series of strips that highlight the entire length, width and height of the vehicle.
Markings should comprise of a 5cm wide strip, and should be at least 80% of the total length and width of the trailer/vehicle. Colour specifications are as follows:
- Front- White
- Sides- Yellow
- Rear- Red
From October this year it is mandatory that any newly manufactured HGV, type approved must be fitted with high visibility vehicle markings. This legislation has already been adopted in a number of EU countries, Italy has had it implemented for the past 3 years and are now reaping the benefits.
